Registered Behavior Technician Job Description

 

Responsibilities

  • Complete a minimum of 15 hours of orientation, 40 hours of an online Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) training course sequence, and 150 hours of hands-on training (all training provided on site)
  • Obtain RBT Certification (*see requirements for RBT Certification below)
  • Provide 1:1 Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy in a center environment to children with autism and other developmental disabilities ages 2-10
  • Implement individualized treatment plans developed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs)
  • Implement behavior reduction procedures while ensuring client safety and dignity
  • Perform and/or assist clients with self-help and hygiene skills
  • Collect data to monitor progress and effectiveness of the individualized treatment plan
  • Provide regular written and verbal progress on treatment goals to other RBTs, BCBAs and parents/caregivers
  • Support the BCBA with training caregivers on implementing individualized treatment plan goals
  • Participate in team meetings, mandatory in-service trainings and other meetings as assigned
  • Ensure that the client is in a safe and positive environment at all times
  • Follow the policies and procedures of Quad Cities Autism Center, Inc.
  • Abide by HIPAA laws and the Behavior Analysis Certification Board’s (BACB) RBT Ethics Code
  • Note: Please be prepared to demonstrate ability to perform physical activities and duties as a component of the initial hands-on interview.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Energetic and positive attitude
  • Flexibility in schedule changes (hours, clients) and job duties
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to engage in sustained physical activities (e.g., running, jumping, climbing stairs, squatting, getting up and down from floor repetitively)
  • Satisfactory results for drug, criminal, and background checks
  • Reliable transportation
  • CPR and First Aid certification within 45-60 days of hire

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or related field
  • Experience working with children with developmental disabilities or behavior problems
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis
  • Basic knowledge of B.F. Skinner’s Analysis of Verbal Behavior

*Requirements for RBT Certification

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a high school diploma
  • Complete the requisite 40 hours of training, overseen by either a BCBA, BCaBA or BCBA-D
  • Undergo background check within 180 days of submitting your completed RBT Certification Application
  • Complete and pass the RBT Competency Assessment, in which an assessor observes and evaluates your performance of RBT tasks (in person, live via the internet, or through recorded videos)
  • Complete and pass the RBT exam, which is comprised of 75 multiple-choice questions and assesses the applicant’s knowledge of the current RBT Task List
  • Abide by the RBT Ethics Code
